Missional Communities assist in the multiplication and magnification of the gospel through Seattle to the ends of the earth by catalyzing mutual discipleship through Bible study (fuels our love for God), shared social experiences (fosters our love for one another) and service (expresses our love for our neighbors).
Missional Communities (MCs) are a fundamental component of The Hallows Church rhythm. Each group expects to experience Jesus Christ in its midst, enabling participants to be transformed through mutual ministry & to experience life in the family of God. They provide an ongoing, multiplying means by which to gather people to study the powerful gospel of Jesus Christ and then be equipped and encouraged to apply the gospel together through relationships and service. In hopes of best reflecting the diversity of the Kingdom and the beauty of finding Christ as our common ground, MCs are composed of 8-15 people in diverse life stages and backgrounds.
Each week offers something a little different as our groups follow a four-week cycle of socializing (sharing a fun experience/meal together), studying, serving, and studying again.
Ministry Roles and Responsibilities
1. MC Leaders:
Missional Community leaders are covenant members that commit to lead -- through word and deed -- a community of diverse people in various seasons of faith. They have a humble desire to point participants to the beauty of the gospel, walk with participants through applying the gospel to all aspects of life, and empower participants to take on active roles in the mutual discipleship of the group.
Hosts have a desire and ability to open up their homes for MCs on study weeks, as well as some social and serve nights. They demonstrate Jesus’ sacrificial service and hospitality through leveraging their resources to provide a safe and inviting place for the regular members, as well as guests, of their MCs to gather. Hosts may be MC leaders.
Participants do not have to be covenant members of The Hallows Church. Members are encouraged to participate faithfully in an MC for their own, as well as their fellow members’, benefit and discipleship growth. MCs are open to any person interested in experiencing Jesus Christ through His word and deed in a community of faith.
